Co. Wexford Retains Blue Flags

CO. WEXFORD RETAINS BLUE FLAGS

County Wexford has been awarded four Blue Flags and four Green Coast Awards.

A total of 134 awards were presented by the Minister for the Environment Phil Hogan today.

To be given a Blue Flag by An Taisce, a beach has to meet strict criteria on water quality, safety, and litter, and visitor facilities must be top class.

County Wexford has been awarded four Blue Flags having retained three of the awards for Curracloe, Courtown and Rosslare Strand.

The county has also regained the blue flag for Morriscastle after a failure to retain the flag in 2013 after problems with water quality.

Meanwhile in the Marina category Kimore Quay and New Ross both retained their Blue Flags.

When the Green Coast Awards are looked at – all four in County Wexford remain in place for 2014.

They’re at Ballinesker, Cahore, Culleton’s Gap and Old Bawn.
