IRISH MAN ASSAULTED IN SYDNEY REGAIN CONSCIOUSNESS

An Antrim man who has been in a coma in Australia after an alleged one punch assault by his brother has now regained consciousness and is in a “stable condition”.

31-year-old Patrick Lyttle has been in intensive care at a Sydney hospital since the incident in the early hours of Saturday.

His 33-year-old brother Barry was charged with recklessly causing grievous bodily harm, and has since been released on bail.

7 News reporter in Sydney Paul Kadak says news of Patrick’s improved condition has come as a relief.

“He is still in the intensive care unit at St Vincent’s Hospital and he will be there for several more days” he said.

“We can certainly speculate within the next few days there’ll be more tests to see if there has been any permanent damage done from the assault and the injury to his head”.

“But at the moment there is relief that he is now awake” he added.
