SOUTH EAST COMPANY TO CLOSE DOWN

A Carlow engineering firm that helped power up the London Olympics is to close its doors later this month.

The High Court has today appointed a liquidator to the insolvent Whitelite Automation Limited which has been in business for almost 30 years and employs 29 people.

The court was told one of the examiners, Enniscorthy native Neil Hughes, considered the best interests of creditors would be served by the company being wound up and its assets being sold off.

A rescue package for the company failed when an investor pulled out due to the external factors of falling oil prices and the economic crisis in Russia.
