Centenary Commemoration of the executions of James Parle, John Creane and Patrick Hogan

At a centenary commemoration today, An Tánaiste, Micheál Martin TD visited Taghmon for a Parle, Crean, Hogan commemoration. The service commenced at 10.15 this morning and continued throughout the afternoon.

Letters from the three men, written before their execution to their parents, were read at the commemoration ceremony.

There was a gun salute and ‘the blood stained bandage’ was sung. Family members of the three men laid wreaths in their memory.

An Tánaiste delivered an oration at the monument in the village.
